24) Avon Depot

Facing the Avon Depot building, looking across the platform. There is a man sitting on a bench in front of the Depot, watching a woman walk by. Next to the man, there are two cream cans, one on its side. [Farmers shipped their excess cream to Denver by rail.] There are signs for telegraph services and money orders over the Depot door.

26) Freighters

"A train of freight wagons like these were a common sight on the road between Wolcott and Routt County points, before the advent of the Moffatt Road. By traveling together freighters could lend assistance to one another in case of an equipment breakdown, encountering a mudhole or a steep grade, of which there were many. This photo was taken about a mile north west of McCoy, by A. B. Noyce of Steamboat Springs in the spring of 1903. The three freighters...

1913: Minturn roundhouse crash showing Rio Grande engine 513. Minturn as the division point between Glenwood Springs and Salida became an important service stop for the railroad. Onlookers posed in front of the engine which is partially ejected through the roundhouse. Water tank in left background.

34) Knight home

Marked with an arrow, the house sits next to a garage. Mine timbers are stacked to right and left. "Dump" refers to the disposal of earth left after ore is extracted.
Additional housing is located above the Knight home.

The I. D. Van Camp dwelling is circled by an antler fence. Plants (beans) are growing up string trellises. The sod roof is sporting vegetation. Yampa is in Routt County.
