Nogal's Hotel, built in 1892, was later purchased by the O. A. Ping family in 1923. It was occupied by siblings Leonard and Garnet Ping most recently. He owned and operated the Red Rock ranch and the Daggett store in Gypsum until 1897, when he went to Fulford, as postmaster and store operator. ..Later he was employed in the Eagle river canon. ... In 1891 he started publication of the Holy Cross Trail, and continued the publication of that paper until 1940."...

June Frey was the editor of "The Nugget", a student publication produced for Red Cliff Union High School. June graduated from RCUHS in 1947. Several editions of "The Nugget" are available from Eagle Valley Library District and at the Red Cliff Museum in Red Cliff, Colorado.
