Born in Tornum, Nord-Schleswig, Denmark, October 22, 1864, Andrew attened German Trades schools, learning shoemaking. He joined his father in Colorado in 1883. George Washington Messersmith sits on a small porch with his granddaughters, Mary Ellen (left) and Evelyn Urdine Douthit (right). The photo was taken around 1930 in front of Urdine Bell & William Henry Lea's home in Gypsum, Colorado (George Washington's daughter and son-in-law). The log cabin in the picture was also on the property and once was home to William Lea's mother, Johanna Harrison Lea, and his sister, Ada Lea (Sprague).

Clarence Fair was a delivery man for the Chambers Dairy and Creamery. Here, Clarence is driving his delivery truck. The large white container in the back is a freezer to keep goods cold throughout the day. Each driver had a log book for deliveries: what they delivered, where it was delivered, and the customer's information.
