"A look at the McCoy Hotel from the west bank of Rock Creek in 1916. If the bridge was only able to talk, think of the many interesting stories it could tell about the many travelers that passed over it between Wolcott and Routt County. Flood waters took it out twice, in 1952 when the King Mountain Reservoir dam gave way and again when high water took it out in 1962. After that it was never replaced." -- McCoy Memoirs, p.95.

"This house, located in the south-east part of the old Groh ranch, was built by Sam Kibbler about 1905 and he, his wife and daughter, Lucille, were the first occupants, but only for a few years. After they left, it has been a home to a number of people including the Grohs after retirement. Its appearance has changed somewhat since 1905 though it's still the same house. In 1942 Helen Ray bought it for $300 but only occupied it for a short time." --...

"A train of freight wagons like these were a common sight on the road between Wolcott and Routt County points, before the advent of the Moffatt Road. By traveling together freighters could lend assistance to one another in case of an equipment breakdown, encountering a mudhole or a steep grade, of which there were many. This photo was taken about a mile north west of McCoy, by A. B. Noyce of Steamboat Springs in the spring of 1903. The three freighters...
52) Salt Well

The Salt Well southeast of McCoy. "Early settlers gave it this name because of the waters salty taste. It is a deep natural spring about forty feet in diameter with a steady year-around flow of water which remains at approximately the same temperature in all seasons. Another mystery of the spring is that it has been sounded to a depth of 1,500 feet without finding bottom." -- McCoy Memoirs p.90
