4) Walter Gates

"Walter and Grace [his wife] visited often on Derby Mesa (from their home in Hastings, Nebraska) during the summer for a number of years. They stayed frequently with the Clark Gates, the James P. Gates and the Bert Gates families. In laater years they stayed with the Frank Gates and Albert Gates families." -- Bettie Gates in The Gates Genealogy

Frank was the son of Harold Robinson, Safety man for the New Jersey Zinc Co. He had a brother, Fred, and a sister, Jane. Frank lived in Red Cliff and was in a logging company, Warren Brothers & Robinson. He had M.S. for years and died in 2009.

In McCoy Memoirs, p. 10, there is the same shot only with F. W. Ambos included and Harry Groh taking the picture. According to John Ambos, "In the early years of the 1900's deer were not plentiful in the McCoy area."

"Coming home from a big hunting trip up near Mining Camp at Fulford, Colo. Very rich gold mines around Fulford Colo" - Alda Borah. The two photographs were printed together and then adhered to a thick cardboard postcard. Several people are visible thorughout the pack train along a small creek at center.

12) Hunting party

"Uncle Jake Borah's camp site in Colorado near Sweetwater Lake". Two tents are visible for the camp with several men and horses (plus one pack mule) surrounding the area. A spit in the center holds what appears to be a bear strung up by his feet with other small animals attached. A smattering of snow remains on the small ridge behind the camp. Jake Borah is possibly the second man from right in a wide-brim hat.
13) Hunting trip
