1920s: Victorian residence owned by Mary Hart and Arthur Hockett in Eagle, CO. View is from the front, showing the porch, detail of woodwork, chimney, and trees without leaves. "In 1917 Howard and Mattie Van Horn and daughters came over from Edwards on the Eagle River and bought part of the Groh ranch from Hollis Brooks, the owner at that time. The land they bought had about thirty acres in cultivation and under a ditch. There were no other improvements except some fence, so the Van Horns built this better than average ranch house and other buildings so necessary on every ranch. The house was built in 1880-90's. It was moved from Keystone mines near Oak Creek in 1944 to the Leonard Horn Ranch. The house was sawed in half to get accross the frozen Colorado River at State Bridge in order to make the move. There is a barbed wire fence in the foreground and a rug airing on the porch rail.
