Lewis Building at 246 Broadway in Eagle. Built in 1912 by the Dice brothers, the First National Bank of Eagle occupied the single story part of the building. The first floor of the two-story section was the Hugus Mercantile Store until the Lewis family took it over as a very successful general store. After that business closed in 1975, the bank took over the first floor.
On the second floor was the Masonic Hall and movie theatre.

7) Hugh Luby

8) Broadway

Broadway in Eagle. The building on the right was built by the First National Bank of Eagle County. The two story half of the building was occupied by general merchandise stores (F. Hugus and Co.; later, the Lewis store); the one story side by the bank.
The line of wagons and carriages may be a parade.

9) Mercantile

John E. Kavanaugh, 10 or 12 years old, standing between two men in a store, possibly in Minturn. John was born in Salida, Colorado, December 6, 1910. His parents were Henry O. Anderson and Hilma Lindgren Anderson. His name was later changed from Anderson to Kavanaugh when he was adopted by his mother's second husband, William "Billy" Kavanaugh, an engineer on the D&RG Railroad.

10) Avon Store

The old Avon Store and the shed next to it, located on the north west corner of Avon Road (above the building) and Hwy 6 (in front of the building). The Avon bridge crosses the Eagle River. The store is unused in this photo. It was moved to Chambers Park and the Information Center in Eagle as part of the Eagle County Historical Society museum complex.
11) Mary Belding

Mary Belding standing behind the counter of the Gilman store. Items for sale are displayed in the case on which she is leaning. There is a cash register behind her. Mary was the daughter of John and Josephine Forest of Eagle.

18) The Wymans

"About 1922 Lawrence Davis built this house at Volcano railroad siding, at a time when there were a number of railroad men and a few homesteaders living in that area. Davis became Postmaster of the Hydrate Post Office that had been established in 1920 and held that position until the post office was discontinued in 1938 for lack of patrons.
