View of Escalante Heights from the south, ca. 1950s. Escalante Heights was a group of army barracks moved from Dalhart, Texas to the WSC campus to ease the housing shortage in 1947. The resulting thirty-one apartments were located near the current Escalante Complex. They were sold and moved in 1960.
