11) Charley Dump

Portrait photograph of Charley Roy Dump. "Charley left home to join the Army at age 17. He later joined the Air Force and proudly served his country for 31 years. He retired in 1975 as the youngest Air Force Warrant Officer ever appointed. ... In his youth he was an avid skier, and was selected to compete, as an alternate for Downhill and Slalom for the 1948 Olympics Team in St. Moritz, Switzerland." -- obituary 2003

13) Willis H. Staup

Willis H. Staup, born August 18, 1895, in Whitewater, Colorado. His family moved to Gypsum in 1903 and operated the Gypsum Hotel. Mr. Staup was inducted into the army on 20 October, 1917, and saw service in France and Germany. He was discharged April 29, 1919. Willis was the son of W.T. and Lovella Staup. He married Pearl Mitchell on the 25th of December in 1919. He later worked as an electrician for Eagle River Electric Company.

"B. Co. S.N.G. BAT'N" - caption on verso. The photograph appears to show George Frey, arm in a sling, with an army nurse. There is a barrack in the background; photo does have pen smudges from album.
18) Mess Hall

A mess of men outside the mess hall at Camp Vail. George Frey wrote on the verso, "Mess Call 13th Service Camp Vail".
Despite its namesake, the Camp Vail in this photograph is unrelated to the Vail that would become a booming ski town near George Frey's hometown. Camp Vail was a training center commissioned in 1917 located in east-central New Jersey. Its namesake is Alfred Vail, who worked with Samuel Morse to develop the commercial telegraph....
19) Soldier Strohm
