Margaraette Walters Allen was born in Wales on December 13, 1844. She was married to Alexander Allen and the couple emigrated to the United States, eventually to Colorado. She died in Olive Springs, TN on January 25, 1937

He was the husband of Ida Oyler Herwick, both coming to the Eagle River Valley in 1881, locating on the property now known as the Nottingham Ranch. She and her husband homesteaded the J over J Ranch north of Wolcott (now the 4 Eagle Ranch).
