He got hold of a big old sedan, probably a Cadillac or Pierce-Arrow, that 7 or 8 men could crowd into and started hauling miners to Gilman. I don't think it was much of a success as it kept breaking down....

Bud Beck, being shipped from Mindinao, Philippines, to Japan, to act as occupation troops at the end of World War II. At the time, Bud was a T-5 (corporal) and a medic in the 193 Regiment of the 41st Division. "I have no idea what ship we were on, we spent so much time on ships that it was easy to lose track. I was 22 years old at the time."

Mount of the Holy Cross Overlook, also known as Julia's Deck, on the Shrine Pass Road [FSR 709], a maintained dirt road, connects Vail and Red Cliff. The overlook was built as handicapped access to the overlook by volunteers representing PAWS, an organization providing recreational facilities for handicapped people.
