To mark the centennial celebration of the town of Grand Junction, Colorado in 1981, the Mesa County Oral History Project wrote and recorded several radio plays about local history. Beginning on September 26, 1981, local radio stations KSTR, KREX-AM, KREX-FM, and KMSA broadcast the plays. Ann and Pepi Langegger were both born in Europe and survived the ravages of World War II. In the aftermath, they individually migrated to North America, and subsequently, met and married in Chicago. They removed to Vail circa 1966. The Langeggers were involved in several landmark restaurants of Vail. Drawn to the Austrian ski and hospitality culture, the Langeggers helped establish the European mountain community feel of Vail.
