The Avon School with front and rear additions. Visible to the northeast are the playground (with slide) and horse barn. These were torn down in about 1948 to widen Highway 6. Some snow on ridge in background.

Old barn just west of the Emmett Nottingham place. The barn was probably built by Clyde Nottingham around 1908. Beaver Creek is to the left. The old Avon School is just right of center. The first Avon bridge is visible in the foreground in front of the school (west of current bridges about 100 yards and lower to the water). The Joe Smith house is to the right.

The Avon School after the addition. The front was extended and the belfry was added. The addition to the back has not yet been done which dates the photo as 1920-21. A group of students is seated at the side of the building.

Original Avon School before addition, taken prior to 1915. The horse barn has not been built. Fence surrounding school yard visible. Shows the Eagle River on right with "water spruce" hanging over the river and Johnson Lane (named for homesteader Joe Johnson) that was the road into Bachelor Gulch. 13. New Avon School

New Avon School under construction (concrete block), 200 yards east of Hwy 6 & Beaver Creek intersection. Built to replace the original Avon School, removed in about 1948. Used for several years. Rented as a residence to Harry Nottingham. Sold by the school district around 1990 and destroyed.
