"Along with the move of the county seat came an obligation to build a modern county courthouse. Designed by renowned architect J. Francis Pillsbury, the Eagle County Courthouse was constructed in 1932 at a cost of $60,000. The sheriff's office was on the basement floor along with living quarters for the jailer.
